Apologies for the same blog appearing twice - I'm still getting the hang of this.
Yesterday I started writing an Art Song entitled, not surprisingly, "Red Alert". It's no relation to the the Teenage Jesus & the Jerks number of that name,
although the verbal pattern in the chorus kind of resembles the phrasing of a Manwich song, "The Liberty Bell is Broken". Perhaps I should give Lara Allen
a residual? (-: Seriously, I can't report on the total number of measures, as the text is evolving alongside the music and I'm not sure how long it will
end up being. But it's pretty far along in sketch.
During editing I was looking up the Telemann "Donnerode" (was that what the Donner Party sang as they went on their merry route?) I read that the English equivalent title
was "The Thunder Ode". Immediately I heard the voice of Robert Mitchum in my head, singing "And it was Thunder, Thunder, Telemann's Thunder Ode..."
Anyone interested in the review I wrote for the Teldec album "The Ligeti Project 3" may read it now on the Barnes & Noble site. It's at:

Also the finished, "cleaned" workpages I edited for Arthur Honegger and George Antheil are available on the web. Go to:
http://www.allclassical.com/cg/acg.dll?p=acg&sql=1:7469~W#WORKS for Honegger and
http://www.allclassical.com/cg/acg.dll?p=acg&sql=1:7010~W#WORKS for Antheil.
In recent days I have been working on a beginner's guide to avant-garde Classical music. I'm just now entering the last few paragraphs, but
it's already clocking in at 4739 words - more than twice the size that it needs to be. So I will have to go in and remove the "best stuff", but I will keep
the original on file and also complete it as it is.
Some good friends from Cincinnati, the band Chalk, will appear at the Elbow Room in Ypsilanti Saturday night. I doubt that I can go, as I just
found out that I am broke, but if you are in the area, please go. They are wonderful.
Some corrections to past blogs Department:
1. The work being done on the 23 North is that they are rehabbing the bridge that runs over the Huron River. The work is being done on both sides,
but I got off so soon on either side that I never saw the work and thought that they had moved it from one side to the other. Silly me.
2. Saddam Hussein can use a "body double" to avoid having his wife to take him shopping.
3. The Jeff Daniels play in Ypsilanti is "Apartment 3A' rather than "The Apartment" as stated here, and he is it's author. It runs through the 23rd
of the month. Anyone needing more info about this or anything else that appears here may write me at uncledavelewis@hotmail.com
Monday's radio playlist will appear after my signature.
