Uncle Dave Lewis lives in a hole in the back of his brain, filled with useless trivia about 78 rpm records, silent movies, unfinished symphonies, broken up punk bands from the 80s and other old stuff no one cares about. This is where he goes to let off a little steam- perhaps you will find it useful, perhaps not. Who knows?

I am writing this from our new computer desk, which my wife and I assembled from a kit this evening. The old desk, which my father bought me as a birthday present some years ago, made its final descent to the dumpster this morning. It disintegrated during the lateral move from one apartment to another in our previous Ann Arbor apartment complex. In our last apartment I was able to piece a few of its fragments together so that it functioned, after a fashion. But once it made its way here the desk would no longer stay in one piece - it was always in danger of sliding apart and sending this whole computer setup crashing to the floor. So when our tax refunds came back we went to Walmart and got a new one. We had to wait until the carpet was in to set it up.

The carpet IS finally in, and it's very nice. I didn't realize how dirty our old carpet was - it actually added a smell to the place which I only notice now that it's gone. Also the padding underneath was completely shot and made the floor uneven. We have a psycho neighbor downstairs who comes up and harasses us for "walking too loud", especially our daughter, who tromps and frolics through our apartment like - well, a kid. This should help our neighbor keep his peace, and likewise keep him downstairs where he belongs.

I do have some Oscar (TM) observations, which I will not share right now, as I am ready to drop from exhaustion. But I willl include that Jazz Till Noon playlist past my signature. On this show you will note that the artists run in A-Z order - this was an unscripted, freeform program and I used the letter order to help determine what was played. In the last 45 minutes I used leftovers from Freeform Monday Morn mixed together with some new release material. The ICP Orchestra was played twice as they are appearing in Ann Arbor at the Kerrytown Concert House this Saturday. I certainly plan to go, and if they come to your town, so should you.

Allisyn has something to say here - I yield the floor to my lovely wife:

Ahhh, there is nothing like the smell of NEW carpet. No matter what Dave says it's divine. The house smells cleaner and finally I don't cringe every time the kid lays on the floor. I know Dave groused a lot about the whole process but I think that he would agree it was all worth it. Now, all we need to do is save up for some furniture and this place will look like a home/record store. I would write more but I am beat, the carpet guys were pretty fast but man, I had to vacuum for something like 3 hours. Laying carpet sure does make a lot of mess, all those little stray fibers and stuff, blech! It would have gone a lot faster but the "super, fantastic" piece of crap Electrolux kept clogging up and I had to keep stopping to unplug the intake area, I'll let Dave tell you the story of how we got snookered into purchasing that worthless "vacuum". Well, no matter what anyone says, I love Dave and am and will always be his biggest fan.
