Well I missed the bus twice today - once on the way to work and the other time on the way home. So a lot of time was spent waiting around to get somewhere. Also I decided to take lunch at a restaurant a tad too far from work, and started to get some grief from my right hip from walking so long. But I was also able to find a lovely guidebook at Dawn Treader on Rocks and Minerals for my little girl (she's been begging me for one), and had read the whole introductory section of the book by the time I got home. I didn't understand half of it - I don't know schist from shinola - but I still got something out of it.
Good news is that I did manage to get We Say No to Your War! broken out into tracks and the CD burned. I will likely write it up and post the results on this Blog, which might be useful to some of you who may have the LP but no booklet. But I think I'm too tired to get the New Friends project underway this eve. Both xerox machines at work were down for the count - made the workday a slighly vexing one.
Once again, I had my little CD player open all day long at my desk, but never put anything inside of it. I started a project that will probably occupy me for the next six months, editing the worklist of Georg Phillip Telemann. Good gravy! The guy could write a cantata with about the same amount of effort as you or I would take to make a peanut butter sandwich.
Brush with Celebrity Department: Yesterday I was getting my usual lunch time hot dog at Le Dog. I look to my left and Jeff Daniels is walking down the street towards Le Dog. He looks at the short line leading up to it (I'm at the end) and changes his mind and walks away. I kind of shrug - I'm thinking "a fairly plain-looking guy like Jeff Daniels surely has to have a 'twin'". But I'd seen him (think I even met him once) when I was out in LA and was pretty sure it was the real actor walking my way.
Well on the bus this morning I pass by the Ypsilanti Community Center where the local theater group is giving "The Apartment" starring - you guessed it - Jeff Daniels. I sincerely wish that he, and they, do well in this production. I certainly wouldn't be able to squeeze it into my schedule (nor my budget) right now, although I'd like to. Jeff is one of only a small handful of actors working today that I truly respect and admire - he's so good that he shines even in crap.
Some of you have responded very nicely to my debut blog. And all I can say is gee - thanks. Keep reading, and I'll keep putting them up.
