Long time no time. Knocked wholly offline for two days at home as one cable doofus tech stuck his screwdriver in the wrong place and wiped out service to the whole building. Guys came later who also stuck their screwdrivers in the wrong place and made the situation yet worse for all. A third guy who was not a doofus finally stuck his screwdriver in the right place and now I'm back on.
Not like I'm not getting used to not having utilitarian, ordinary, do-it-every-day types of services available to me from time to time. The big blackout of 2003 visited my house like the shadow of a great, black ghost. All night my wife and I sweated in the heat of the dark night, thankful for the sleeping pills we took as otherwise we would not have made it. We had to drive for miles to get a cup of coffee, and by the end of our meal the owner of the restaurant was shouting insults at us trying to get us to leave so he could seat more customers.
We were contemplating taking a driving to a Perrysburg hotel in the pissing rain just so we could get a decent night's sleep. We stopped at home to pick up a few things and that's when the car died again. Fortunately I was in the ducked into the bathroom and noticed the lights on. We cancelled the room and threw out tons of bad food. That's what my "three-day-weekend" was like.
I did start a cantata over the weekend, and that's 24 measures along by now.
