Allisyn Update
Allisyn was released from Oakwood Thursday, but returned to U of M early Sunday morning. There is a buildup of fluid from her surgery which she has to be rid of before she can go home for good. I'm on pins and needles, as you would expect.
Some of you have called and left messages and asked me "Dave! Why didn't you call?" Believe me, this goes down so hard that at such times I get insular and don't want to bother anyone with my troubles. Believe me, it's nothing personal - I'm "toughing it out." But I do appreciate all the calls, help and support that we have gotten from all around these past weeks. I really don't know how to thank everyone.
But she's not out of the woods yet. Once she is, you all will know.
Just watched the first part of the De Mille bio. It's a shame they wont show the two parts together. Did anyone catch it? I'm interested in comments on that, or "The Sign of the Cross" if you watched that. Like that scene in the arena? Very "Felliniesque" - it's also where Fellini himself probably got "Felliniesque," by the way. Also I love the thing at the beginning with Charles Laughton as Nero and Rome burning - such an incredible visual flow in that whole sequence - and for several that follow. It really doesn't bog down until you are in the chamber with the philosophers, and by that time you are hooked. There are many things along the way that keep your interest until the big payoff near the end. Great movie.
Good night, and thanks again,
Uncle Dave Lewis
