Uncle Dave Lewis lives in a hole in the back of his brain, filled with useless trivia about 78 rpm records, silent movies, unfinished symphonies, broken up punk bands from the 80s and other old stuff no one cares about. This is where he goes to let off a little steam- perhaps you will find it useful, perhaps not. Who knows?

Sing it, Tony

I was shopping for dinner franks and over the muzak came Alex North's "Theme from Spartacus" in a modified form of Bill Evans version (extra cheese poured in from outside)

Then I could hear Tony Curtis' voice cooing this along with the music:

Spodd dih cuss
Spodd dih cuss
Oh-hh Spahh di cus I
Love you

An Alterante Title of An Alternate Title of An Alternate Title

Alternate title of an early Rossini opera, La Pietra del paragone (1812):

"Die Liebesprobe"

Sounds like a gynecologist having an affair

In Closing

I heard that Rossini today and another opera, Glinka's Ruslan and Ludmila (a real rarity and nicely recorded too.)

But better than either was "Loves You...Loves You Not" by the Dayton band Shesus. That, my friends, seriously kicks ass!
