Uncle Dave Lewis lives in a hole in the back of his brain, filled with useless trivia about 78 rpm records, silent movies, unfinished symphonies, broken up punk bands from the 80s and other old stuff no one cares about. This is where he goes to let off a little steam- perhaps you will find it useful, perhaps not. Who knows?

Here We All Are in the Lovely Month of October

Can't believe the weather outside today - felt like Summer up here in Michigan. Usually by this time of year we are getting a spell of semi-cold weather which, of course, becomes full blown cold by November.

Of course the big news is that I'm playing at the Southgate house Saturday with all of my old buds from the Hospital Records days. I was interviewed by Brian Baker last Tuesday for a Cincinnati CityBeat article on the show. I'm scared to death, as every time in the past where I got interviewed by the newspapers in Cincinnati my colleagues in the Cincinnati scene had reason to get angry at me. While they don't mind what I say in person so much, I read like a jerk in print.

Nonetheless, no matter what they print in CityBeat it isn't gonna derail the show. The Southgate House is located at 24 East 3rd Street in Newport, Ky, right across from the Newport Aquarium.
Doors open at 9pm, the show likely starts at 10. Please come early as I am playing first. BPA is the headliner and you really shouldn't miss it if you can make it. I've had email from as far away as England from folks who wish they could see this program.

Am I Dreaming or Something?

Did the President really say that he wanted to name someone to the Supreme Court who has never served as a judge? And that this same person is his personal defense lawyer - doesn't that smack of conflict of interest?

I swear I can't believe what this country is coming to. I have all the tools, I believe, to make an excellent reference librarian of myself, but I have no library science degree, so I can't get a job doing that. And indeed, this IS a good reason - give the job to me, and someone who does have that degree is shut out of a position in a filed that doesn't have a lot of vacancies. But we can name a trial lawyer to the highest court in the land. Somebody please, wake me up.
