Uncle Dave Lewis lives in a hole in the back of his brain, filled with useless trivia about 78 rpm records, silent movies, unfinished symphonies, broken up punk bands from the 80s and other old stuff no one cares about. This is where he goes to let off a little steam- perhaps you will find it useful, perhaps not. Who knows?

Shark Fin Soup and Humans as Food

Last night I caught the premiere of a really good TV show on Discovery Channel. I haven't been watching them much because "The New Detectives," a favorite of mine nearly to the point of obsession, hasn't been on the schedule in any consistent way, and I don't care for "American Chopper" AT ALL.

But this was a show called "I Shouldn't Be Alive" and it's debut featured a fascinating, and devastatingly tragic, story about five folks shipwrecked in a dinghy in the middle of the Atlantic - two make it. It airs again today at 6pm ET - that's not an easy listing to find, as the website does not give the additional airtimes beyond its regular airdate of friay at 9 pm. Watch it! It's really engaging.
