Uncle Dave Lewis lives in a hole in the back of his brain, filled with useless trivia about 78 rpm records, silent movies, unfinished symphonies, broken up punk bands from the 80s and other old stuff no one cares about. This is where he goes to let off a little steam- perhaps you will find it useful, perhaps not. Who knows?

Now While You Were Watching TV, I Was Doing This...

"Trillen" is a Ferruccio Busoni (1866-1924) piece that dates from about 1918-20. It's a hard one to find, buried in a book of etudes; I've never seen a recording of it and believe me, I've looked. I found the music tho, about 1984 and have played it a little - very little, and badly - very badly ever since.

You might wonder why I would put five and a half hours into programming this two and half minute piece. Well, I'd like to make a dance band arrangement of it sometime - I dunno, it sounds jazzy to me. And I wanted to hear the way it sounded not played very badly like I play it at the piano. So I worked from the music - it's really quite complex, although it looks simple enough on the page. I had to break it down into a kind of a four hand version in order to make the programming more efficient - there are a lot of overlapping voices and other things digital notation programs have a hard time adapting to.

So, enjoy. I'm really proud of it - this was a LOT of work.
